Oral: Diarrhea: 1 packet of Banatrol® Plus TID (three times daily) added to beverages or foods, such as applesauce or yogurt. Maximum dose 6 packets/day with no more than 2 packets at a single time. Continue to use until diarrhea is resolved. Appropriate for continued long term use.

Loose Stools: 1 packet 1-2 times per day as needed.

Tube Feeding: G-Tube or J-Tube: 1 packet of Banatrol Plus TID every 6 to 8 hours of feeding. Add 120 mL of room temperature water to a 240 mL cup. Slowly stir in the contents of 1 packet. Mix well. Administer slowly via syringe. Flush with 30 mL water before and after administration.
Do not mix with tube feeding formula. When administering via feeding tube, we recommend a size 14 French or larger to reduce the risk of clogging.

Avoid Banatrol if any of the following applies to you: anyone with an allergy to bananas, very strict low potassium diets (Banatrol Plus contains 120 mg or 3.1 mEq of potassium per packet), bowel impaction, ileus and in individuals in which fiber is contraindicated. NOT for parenteral use.

How long does it take for Banatrol Plus to Start Working?

Response to Banatrol Plus generally occurs in 5-7 days, depending on the type and severity of diarrhea, the dose and the specific individual’s response. After 5-7 days, evaluate the response to treatment and adjust the dosage of Banatrol Plus up or down 1 pack per day – Increase up to a total of 6 packs of Banatrol Plus per day (max).

What does Banatrol Plus do?
