The purpose of first aid is to provide immediate, short-term care for a person who has been injured or suddenly taken ill.

First, check for signs of breathing and pulse. If they are not breathing, call 911 and begin CPR. If they are breathing, place them in the recovery position and call 911.

A first aid kit should include items such as adhesive bandages, gauze, antiseptic wipes, scissors, tweezers, adhesive tape, and a CPR mask.
